Since the reboot season the Cosmos have played a tremendous number of international friendlies, commensurate with the club's aspirations and goals. Often however, they were played outside of New York City. Cosmos Country have had to watch these matches on cable or the Internet. Well fans, that will change this summer. First Team Podcast can report that the Cosmos will host an international friendly with a European team this summer. Read into this what you will, but it's rumored to be a German club well known to Cosmos fans.
Rumors existed that the Cosmos had been in negotiation with a La Liga side but ultimately could not be completed. Chattanooga FC, a member of the National Premier Soccer League and inaugural Founders Cup opponent, has since announced a Memorial Day friendly with world-famous La Liga side Betis FC - currently in 8th place in the standings. New York Cosmos have a long history of going toe to toe with legendary international sides; since the reboot, they've included Villareal CF, Valencia CF and SD Eibar. It's great to see clubs like Chattanooga expand their international profile. FTP is curious about the story on how this get came to pass, and hope to report more on this soon.
This is a developing story and First Team Podcast will update when necessary.
